Steinhauer floor lamp with telescopic rod, 70/80s
Rare, height-adjustable floor lamp by Steinhauer from the 1970s. The knob at the end of the wooden base makes it possible to fix the metal rod at the desired height. With the swivel mechanism atached to the shade, it can be placed in the desired position. Otherwise, the lamp is characterized by its simple design of wood and plastic. The lamp is fully functional.
On October 21, 1933, Hendrik Jan Steinhauer laid the foundation for what would become a leading family business in decorative lighting. Steinhauer started in Amsterdam with a small range of products, but grew into an established name in the Netherlands and far beyond in the decades that followed. Later, the production was moved to Apeldoorn. In the early years, Steinhauer produced his lamps entirely in-house. In the workshops, there were impressive vacuum forming machines that made plastic lampshades. The typical orange and brown tones of the 70s — extremely popular at the time — characterised their range.
