Leonard Wyburd reading table for Liberty & Co

Beautiful little late 19th century oak three tier bookshelf or reading table by Leonard Wyburd for Liberty & Co, around 1885. In solid oak with turned staves and moorish lattice sides. In very good condition with original wooden and brass castors.

Leonard Wyburd (1865–1958) was just 18 when he was appointed head of the Liberty Furnishing and Decoration Studio, going on to produce an iconic range of quality which combined the exotic influenes of moorish, arabian and oriental antique furniture with the European Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts movements to create what became known as the ‘Liberty’ style.
