Danish brutalist Oregon pine coffee table, 70s/80s
Large, heavy, brutalist coffee table made of strong solid Oregon pine with visible mortise and tenon joints, 1970s/80s. Marked under the table with a metal plate labeled Eight Wood / Danish cabinetmakers, number O19. The table is in nearly mint condition with minimal signs of wear.
Eight Wood (often referred to as EightWood or 8ghtwood) was a Danish furniture workshop (dansk møbelsnedker) primarily active in the 1970s and 80s. The workshop was known for using robust, high-quality solid woods. Many common designs were crafted from Oregon pine (Douglas fir). The furniture - including large coffee tables and dining tables - is characterized by a brutalist edge, heavy construction, and visible mortise and tenon joints (tapsamlinger). This aligns with the rich tradition of Danish craftsmanship where the structural integrity of the wood takes center stage.
