Oscar Torlasco table lamps, 60s
A set of two beautiful desk/table lamps from the 1960s by Italian designer Oscar Torlasco. The solid brass fixture connects a black metal round shade and base. The foot has the pressure switch to switch the lamp on and off. The white plastic inner cap provides a soft, warm light. The lamp is in a beautiful, original, vintage condition with signs of wear associated with lamps of this age. The brass has not been polished, the cap and base have not been repainted, so the beautiful patina that time has applied to the brass has been preserved (see photos).
Born in Rome, Italy, Oscar Torlasco (1934-2004) is considered one of the best lighting designers of the middle of the last century. He gained recognition in the 1950s and 1960s for his innovative lamps that spread soft light via optical glass lenses. He designed for several leading Italian lighting companies and received the prestigious Compasso d'Oro for Italian design in 1959.
