Louis Kalff Timor 69 desk lamp for Philips
This design classic 'Timor 69' desk lamp was designed in the 1960s by the famous architect and designer Louis Kalff and was produced by Philips in the 1970s and 1980s. It is one of Kalff's UFO shaped lamps. Philips label stamped into the foot. Black, round iron base with built-in switch. Conical chrome rod. Black, round aluminum lampshade in the shape of a mushroom or UFO with a hole in the middle. White painted on the inside. The lamp is in good vintage condition and has some signs of age and some chrome rust points on the stem (see photos).
Philips lighting from the 1950s was developed within the design department founded and led by Louis Kalff. The resemblance between his later architectural work (Evoluon) and some Philips dish-shaped lamps, such as Decora, Senior and Junior, simply shows that the same visual language was used within Philips.
